☕ Guess What the Rock Hall Just Unveiled?

Need Plans for the Week? We’ve Got 16 of ‘Em

TOGETHER WITH NüIQ WELLNESS

Good morning, Westsiders. Welcome to The Westside Buzz.

Our air conditioner took the weekend off. Fortunately for the faithful members of Buzz Nation, we didn’t. We powered through our indoor heatwave the old-fashioned way: box fans, popsicles, and sticking to the couch.

Today we’re buzzing on:

  • 🎸 A new Rock Hall exhibit

  • 🚦 An Avon traffic nightmare

  • 🌽 The corniest thing to hit the Westside since my Dad learned how to use emojis (my Dad reads these…sorry Dad)

See you all around this week!

COMMUNITY BLEND

Intersection Makeover Begins Too Soon 📍 Avon

The Detroit Road/State Route 83 (Center Road) intersection via Google Maps

Avon drivers, make sure you pack a snack and maybe a stress ball. Starting July 21, the Detroit Road/Center Road intersection will look a lot like the Browns’ 2025 season outlook…bleak.

Crews will be adding more lanes, more signals, and probably more orange barrels than you're emotionally prepared for.

These types of construction projects are like eating your vegetables—you know it will be good for you in the long run, but it’s not always fun in the moment.

With improvements stretching from Avon Commons to Healthway Drive, the project wraps up (allegedly) by Halloween 2026. Full Story in Short Takes

RNR HALL OF FAME

New Exhibit Marks 40th Anniversary of Live Aid! 📍 Downtown

The iconic Freddie Mercury performing at Live Aid 1985

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame just unveiled a powerful new exhibit honoring the 40th anniversary of Live Aid, the historic 1985 benefit concert that rocked both London and Philadelphia to fight famine in Ethiopia.

The iconic Queen performance is on YouTube—and in our house, it holds the unofficial record for most late-night sing-alongs, usually starring Jodie and me, with the neighbors as the unwilling audience.

You'll find iconic artifacts like Freddie Mercury’s stage shoes, Nile Rodgers’ guitar, and backstage credentials from legends like Chrissie Hynde. All that vintage gear spotlights unforgettable performances from Queen, Bowie, The Who, and more.

It’s a must-see for music lovers, capturing the chaos, heart, and global unity of one of rock’s most ambitious moments.

METROPARKS

Whipps Ledges Improvement Project 📍 Hinckley

The Cleveland Metroparks are hard at work enhancing access to one of Hinckley’s most iconic natural features—Whipp’s Ledges.

A brand-new stone staircase is being built to improve safety and sustainability on the trail leading to the popular rock formations, which attract climbers of all skill levels.

In true Metroparks fashion, the stones used for the stairs are being quarried right on site, blending seamlessly with the natural landscape. The project is set to be completed by August 1. Click here to watch the video.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS

At This Festival, it’s Okay to be Corny 📍 North Ridgeville

North Ridgeville’s beloved Corn Festival turns 50 this August!

If you saw my stance on sweet corn and my takes about food on a cob, you know I’m absolutely stoked about this.

What started in 1975 as a humble six-hour gathering around a middle school track is now one of Ohio’s longest-running community celebrations. This year’s golden anniversary (Aug. 8–10) will feature 100+ booths, live entertainment, a beer garden, a classic car show, and a dazzling musical drone show in place of fireworks—all with no cost admission.

It’s a homegrown tradition that sprouted from popcorn, weathered the decades, and still delivers bushels of fun, nostalgia, and buttery fingers.
