☕ We Went All Out

Join us FRIDAY at Rozi's to drink wine for the Animals

Good morning, Buzz Nation.

Man, I am glad we send these newsletters out on Tuesdays, because we needed a full day to recover from a heck of a weekend!

We brunched at Heart of Gold, had a baby shower on West 25th, ate mouthwatering wings at OneStar Bar, went to the Lakewood YMCA for a workout, and danced to house music at Goldies!

That, my friends, is why The Westside is the best side!

Today we’re buzzing on:

  • 🎢 The newest thrilling Cedar Point ride

  • 🤩 A star comes to Cleveland for the R&R HOF exhibit

  • 🍩 A local vegan doughnut shop makes a national list

Let’s have a week!

CEDAR POINT

Newest Ride scheduled to open “Early Summer” | Sandusky

According to Cedar Point’s latest YouTube video, their newest coaster, Siren’s Curse, is nearing completion and looks as thrilling as you would expect from the world’s premier amusement park.

Siren’s Curse features a “Tilt Track” drop

According to Dave Evans, the construction manager, “All pieces of the track have been installed and all of the bolts tightened.”

I view my roller coaster construction kind of like my late-night fast food orders…I don’t need to see how they’re made.

All jokes aside, this new coaster looks amazing and is set to be Cedar Point’s biggest draw for the 2025 Summer!

ROCK HALL NEWS

SNL's 50 years of music celebrated with star-studded event | Downtown

If you're a fellow SNL fanatic like me, I've got news that might have you doing your best "Wayne's World" worthy freak-out: the Rock Hall is throwing what sounds like the coolest party of the summer to celebrate their new exhibit, SNL: Ladies & Gentlemen...50 Years of Music!

When: June 14th from 6:30 - 10:00 PM

Clear your calendar for June 14th because this isn't just any museum visit. Fred Armisen himself (yes, THE Fred Armisen of Portlandia fame and 11 seasons of SNL brilliance) will be making a special appearance! You'll get to explore the entire Rock Hall, jam to SNL classics in The Garage (I'm for sure requesting "More Cowbell"), and catch an exclusive edit of Questlove's documentary about SNL's musical legacy in the Foster Theater.

SUPPORT LOCAL

Local vegan donut shop lands on national list | Lakewood

Kharisma and Kyra Mayo, sisters and owners of The Vegan Doughnut Company

These talented sisters, who started this gem from their home kitchen back in the day (and opened on Detroit Avenue in 2018) are proving that plant-based can be just as delicious.

Between their pillowy-soft texture and those Instagram-worthy toppings, it's no wonder the Yelp Elites are going do-nuts over seasonal flavors like lavender lemon and cookie butter.

Next time you're debating weekend brunch plans, think about skipping the usual spot and grab a box of these beauties instead - your crunchy friends will thank you! 🍩

WESTSIDE POUR OVER

🍃 Avon: The Avon Tree Commission hosted the annual Tree City USA Awards ceremony at Tom's Country Place on May 15, bringing together more than 55 Northeast Ohio cities to celebrate their urban forestry achievements, with Avon earning special recognition as the designated host city after receiving its third Tree City USA award.

🎋 Olmsted Falls: Falls-Lenox first-grade teacher Emily Collins created a heartwarming full-circle moment by gifting her students small succulent plants grown from the very same plant her kindergarten teacher gave her nearly two decades ago, which her father had lovingly nurtured from a tiny seedling into a thriving garden centerpiece at their California home.

🛫 Hopkins: Cleveland's exciting airport revamp kicks off with building a new 1,622-space Gold Lot parking area at the vacant Concourse D, followed by constructing a massive 6,000-space parking garage with a ground transportation center and new subway station where the current Orange Lot sits.

REAL ESTATE

House lived in by the “Big Cuyahoga” hits the market | Richfield

People often forget that larger-than-life NBA player turned TNT analyst Shaquille O’Neal played for the Cleveland Cavs during the 2009-2010 season. After his move to Cleveland he bought this extravagant mansion in Richfield and vowed to “Win a ring for the King”.

The listing says the indoor basketball court is where he used to practice his free throws. If that’s the case, I’m sure that the rims and nets are in pristine condition because Shaq was 52.7% from the free-throw line in his career. Nevertheless, here are the stats:

  • Price: $2,750,000

  • Year built: 2008

  • Bedrooms: 6

  • Bathrooms: 5 full, 1 half

  • Size: 12,330 sqft
