☕ We're on to Thanksgiving 🦃

Welcome to the Westside Buzz. We’re kind of like that friend who always knows the cool things going on around town. All Westside, twice a week.

In today’s newsletter we will discuss:

  • What’s going on with the Lakewood “Pit”

  • Prepping for Cleveland Pizza Week

  • Cleveland Comedy Week

Things we will not be discussing:

  • Any election EVER! (except for those silly elections to name things and we end up with a boat named Boaty McBoatface)

Here we go!

The Digest

Updates on the Lakewood “Pit”

Lakewood is nearing final approval for the most famous hole in the ground on the west side. Lovingly referred to as “The Pit”, is 6 acres of prime real estate in downtown Lakewood. The former Lakewood hospital was demolished and then a ‘hole’ 😏 lot of nothing happened.

Our beloved eye-sore is getting closer to becoming…something 📍 Downtown Lakewood

What you need to know:

Architects from Casto and Dimit are promising about 300 housing units spread across 4 buildings. That would include a 5-story apartment, townhomes, a parking garage and some green space.

The consensus among citizens who were promised a Lakewood Town Center is a collective “meh.” Everyone agrees that something is better than nothing, but it seems that no one can agree on what the best use would actually be.

Slow Down For 🚴 Bicycles

Bike Cleveland, an advocacy group promoting safe cycling across the city is having their monthly meeting Thursday November 7th at 6PM. The Westpark Better Streets committee meets to discuss safe walking, biking, and safe streets in West Park.

Free Health Screenings

Raise your hand if it’s been too long since your last physical…👋Well if you missed it this past weekend, there was no excuse because it was free.

Westlake Porter Public Library’s health fair on Nov. 2 attracted a large community turnout. The event offered health screenings, interactive workshops, and expert-led sessions. Attendees accessed resources on various health topics, including Alzheimer’s, brain health, and local support services, enhancing community wellness awareness. The library did not hand out lolly pops, so there is always something they can improve on for next time.

Prepping for Cleveland Pizza Week! (November 11-17)
