☕ We found some unexpected holiday magic
Plus: a new French inspired market, Avon Football goes back-to-back, plus we found a hidden gem
Good morning, Buzz Nation!
On Saturday, Jodie and I drove past a wild light display on Lewis Road in Olmsted Falls. It was so good we actually stopped, turned around, and rolled by again just to take it all in.
I love when folks go all out — whether it's for Christmas lights, the Fourth of July, or even Arbor Day.
Got a neighbor who does the same? We’re rounding up the best Westside holiday displays, community-nominated, of course. Hit reply and tell us who deserves the spotlight. We’ll feature the standouts in an upcoming Buzz.
Speaking of things that’ll brighten your week...
Avon football goes back-to-back
Le Marché community market opens tomorrow
Spice Hospitality doubles down
The Buzz heads to Vino di Luca
Have a great week!

Before we dig in, we have a new Westside Buzz partner to introduce you to.
Together With Bridge Rehab and Performance
A solution for everyday aches 📍 Westlake

Bridge Rehab and Performance - 26202 Detroit Rd, Suite 100A, Westlake
If you’re dealing with a few lingering aches — a tight shoulder from pickleball, stiff neck from your laptop setup, or a knee that’s been making weird noises since you turned 35 — you’re not alone. Most of us just try to push through it.
Our friends at Bridge Rehab & Performance help active adults move better, feel younger, and bounce back without meds or surgery.
🟢 Heads up: 15 Westside Buzz readers can book a $49 Performance Tune-Up (normally ~$150). Think of it as a reset button before the holiday chaos sets in.
You’ll get a focused 1:1 session with a doctor of physical therapy to:
Loosen tight spots (back, hips, knees, shoulders)
Improve posture and mobility from desk life
Keep your joints feeling younger for travel, workouts, or chasing kids
Based on what your body needs, they may include dry needling, cupping, muscle scraping, or trigger-point work…basically, the stuff that actually makes a difference.
What to know:
Available for new clients, limited to 15 spots, book by Dec 20 (can schedule later), and HSA/FSA friendly.

Spice Group Doubles Down

With all the recent restaurant closings, it’s easy to feel like Cleveland’s food scene is taking one on the chin. But Spice Hospitality Group didn’t get the memo.
Their Lakewood pizza joint, Boom’s Pizza, is thriving — so much so they’re opening new spots in Solon and Van Aken (let’s try not to take it personally, Westsiders). They also just opened a shiny new café inside the Cleveland Botanical Garden and are celebrating 20 years of their signature event series: Plated Landscapes.
Never been to one? Neither have we. But it sounds like the ideal way to meet cool people, eat unforgettable food, and pretend you're in a Netflix food documentary for a night.
These dinners take place all over town. Spanning from Whiskey Island to Creekside Nursery in Parma to their own farm, Spice Acres in Brecksville. Each one kicks off with a cocktail and fancy hors d’oeuvres, followed by a multi-course, wine-paired dinner under the stars (or indoors if the weather misbehaves). Everything’s seasonal, locally sourced, and intentionally unforgettable.
Here’s the upcoming dinner schedule if you want to snag a seat before they fill up.
Short Takes
Bay Village
Treasurer resigns: The Bay Village City Schools are searching for a new treasurer after Meghan Rohde recently announced she will step down from her position, effective mid-January, 2026.
She has been with the district since April of 2021.
Festive decorations: Make it a point to visit the Rose Hill Museum, 27715 Lake Road, this holiday season. The decorations are beautiful and there is also a model train display. The museum is open free of charge from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until Dec. 21. Museum guides will be dressed in period costumes.
The museum gift shop will be open and stocked with signature Bay Village gifts.

🏈🎉 City of champions: Congratulations to Avon High School for going back-to-back and winning the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division II State Football Championship last weekend. This completes a hat trick of state championships as the school won volleyball and boys soccer championships last month.
New businesses: I first reported in April that Jack Frost Donuts will be opening in Olde Avon Village (next to Strip Steakhouse). The popular donut shop officially unveiled their announcement to the public with a sign at the recent holiday Candlelight Wine Walk last weekend. There are still details to be worked out, but they plan to open in early 2026.
Biggby Coffee, 36500 Detroit Road, is scheduled to open Dec. 16.
A coffee location is also planned for Avon Lake in early 2026 in the former Rio Coffee space on Walker Road.
Soccer brand unveiling: After a public vote to name the new Lorain County USL2 soccer team coming to ForeFront Field (formerly named Crushers Stadium), a brand unveiling featuring the name and badge will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 at Cameo Pizza (inside T3 Performance), 1945 Recreation Lane.
Avon Lake
Deck the halls: As you’re dashing through the snow this holiday season, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department encourages you to keep your eyes peeled for some festive friends around town during the annual Holiday Scavenger Hunt.
From now through Dec. 28, 18 holiday-themed characters will be hiding at public buildings and other spots throughout the city. Each one is easily visible from your vehicle, so there is no need to get out of the car (reminder: public parks close at dusk).
A form is available online to match each character to its location, and submit your completed form for a chance to win a prize.
The department is also sponsoring a Snowman contest and a holiday light display contest. All of the details are on the department’s website.
Power plant vote: After months of discussions, City Council members voted 6-1 to approve purchasing 23-acres of the former power plant property. The city is planning to use the property for mixed-use development, including a lakefront public park.
Ward 1 councilman Rob Shahmir cast the lone ‘no’ vote and has been vocal regarding the power plant and many of the decisions made by the city.
North Ridgeville
Cozy new room: The North Ridgeville Police Department recently opened a newly designed soft interview room, made possible through Project Beloved, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering sexual assault survivors.
The space was transformed to offer warmth and comfort during the reporting process, and features cozy furnishings. A special touch includes wall canvases with photos taken by Megan Getrum, a victim and amateur photographer whose work now brings serenity to interview rooms across the country.
Rocky River
New boutique: Eleanor and Hobbs, featuring a curated collection of contemporary women's clothing, accessories and home goods, recently opened at 19350 Detroit Road.
Art show: The Rocky River Public Library Foundation will host an Art Show fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at the library.
Westlake
Photo exhibit: Join Barbara Pennington at the opening reception for the photo collection from her third photo journal book, "The Extraordinary Ones," from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at The Carolyn L. Farrell Foundation for Brain Health’s Center for Artful Living, 26633 Detroit Road.
The exhibit will be on display through January 2026 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The exhibit includes the heartwarming stories of 37 families facing the unknown and ultimately the joyful path of living with Down Syndrome.
Happy anniversary: Celebrate Westlake Porter Public Library’s 141st anniversary with coffee, cocoa, and cookies in the lobby from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15.
Hidden Gem
Vino di Luca 📍 Olmsted Falls
On our way to a birthday party in Columbia Station (shoutout, Engels), Jodie and I made a quick detour to check out Vino Di Luca, which just opened a few months ago in the old Wine Cellar space.
First surprise? Olmsted Falls is charming AF. Cozy, walkable, rustic in the best way. It’s like a Hallmark Christmas movie with real people — instead of a sexy snowman who comes to life.
Second surprise? We immediately loved this place.
The vibe is upscale but not fussy. The staff is genuinely friendly. And the wine list? Unreal. Big options, very reasonable prices. You get that sipping-a-red-in-the-cinque-terra feeling… with Westside value attached.
We even chatted with a couple at the bar who perfectly summed it up: Olmsted Falls gives you Chagrin Falls energy without the Chagrin Falls price tag. They also insisted we try the sacchetti next time — challenge accepted.
Oh, and they’re turning the upstairs into a private party space and expanding the dining room. Long story short: Vino Di Luca is a charming little wine spot that’s absolutely worth the drive from anywhere on the Westside.
New Business
Clifton Boulevard AKA Little Paris 📍 Cleveland
From the moment manager Megan Digesare told me about her plans for a new French-inspired market at the Zamir Gotta dinner a few weeks ago, I knew she was about to knock it out of the park.
Le Marché, connected to La Ville Lumière, opens next Wednesday with one simple goal: to turn your boring “run in for a few things” trip into a little community experience you actually look forward to. Expect fresh bread, quiche, cronuts, and chocolate croissants.
They’re calling it the “Market for Moments,” which feels exactly right. You’ll find farm-fresh eggs, flowers, charcuterie, wine, local bread from Breadsmith, coffee from Ready Set, and plenty of reasons to feel casually fancy on a random Tuesday.
Open Wed–Sat, 8–6. Consider this your new “I’ll just run over real quick” spot.
Tony’s FB Marketplace Find
Was hunting for some unique Cleveland ornaments on FB Marketplace and stumbled on these made-to-order Westside beauties. The seller also makes ornaments from most surrounding cities and cool Westside earrings, too.
Speaking of decorating your tree…
