☕Veteran's Day Salute
Winning lottery ticket sold in Avon, The Cavs hot start, & The Lady Rockets
Welcome to the Westside Buzz! We’re kind of like that friend who always knows the cool things going on around town. All Westside, twice a week. To all the Veteran’s, thank you for your sacrifice and service.
In today’s newsletter we will discuss:
Bay Woman’s Soccer State Title Game
Avon Electrician Helps Flood Victims
Cedar Point Rides Retired
Things we will not be discussing:
My 8th-grade report card (When will I ever use algebra anyway?)
Let’s have some fun!

Giving Back
Avon business owner Aloys Nagel saw the devastation after Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and decided to lend a hand. After his first trip to help, he called on the community for donations, and they answered the call.
“I reached out to the community, and in one day, my trailer was completely full to the ceiling.”
After hearing about Aloys call for help, Nicole Smigel of Avon launched a coat drive and raised $1,000 for victims of the flooding. All the coats were driven down by Nagle, which freed up shipping costs.
As we approach the holidays, this is a great reminder that one person can make a difference.
⚽Bay Women’s Soccer Takes Home the ‘ship
The Bay Women’s Soccer team scored a thrilling last-second goal to beat Medina Highland 1-0 and cap off an undefeated, state championship season!
The game was played at the Historic Columbus Crew Stadium
Senior captain Tessa Knapp scored in every game this season totaling 64 goals and 14 assists. The Notre Dame commit was blanketed by defenders all game but never wavered. In the final seconds, she crossed the ball into the box and Maya Holmes knocked it in for the victory.
🚀Congratulations Ladies!
Double Take 👀
An odd-looking deer was spotted in North Olmsted recently.
According to Monika Bowman Bell at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the deer has a pigmentation anomaly called leucism.
Had I come across it I would have thought it was a goat that escaped a local petting zoo.
💰Big Winner
If you bought a rolling cash 5 ticket from the Avon CVS, then you might be holding onto $100,000. After tax, it’s only $70k give or take. Honestly not even worth it.
So if your ticket says 3-16-19-23-30 feel free to send it over to your pals at TWB.😋

🏈Friday Night Lights Recap
Eagles Come Back Tour
Avon 52 Olmsted Falls 35
No. 1 seeded Avon survived an early scare to advance in the OHSAA Division II playoffs. Reminiscent of last year’s playoff matchup, Avon overcame a first-quarter deficit and scored 5 straight touchdowns to take control of the game.
The Eagles will take on the 11-1 Wadsworth Grizzlies Friday at Strongsville’s Pat Catan Stadium.
Napoleon Conquers Bay
Napoleon 28 @ Bay 0
The Bay Rockets ran into a buzzsaw Friday night as 13th-seeded Napoleon kept their improbable run going. Bay should not hang their head because Napoleon hasn’t allowed a point in two playoff games. Great season Rockets!
Pirates Sink
Lexington 49 @ Rocky River 29
The banged-up Pirates couldn’t overcome injuries as they fell to the visiting minutemen from Lexington.
River had glimpses where it looked like they would advance in the playoffs. They came up short in a valiant effort to cap off the season. Keep your heads up, Pirates!
🏀 NBA Hoops
Undefeated and the Microwave
What does the Cavs’ 12-0 start and a home appliance have to do with each other? Just ask beloved Cav Tristan Thompson. If you are unfamiliar with backup guard Ty Jerome, he will probably become your favorite player. TT nicknamed Jerome The Microwave because he gives the team instant energy and he loves Hot Pockets.
I made that last part up... But if he did eat Hot Pockets, I would be willing to try it as my next YMCA basketball pregame meal (Shoutout the Goons).
After they dismantled the Warriors on Friday night, they took down a frisky Nets team, and the Bulls Monday night to go to a league-leading 12-0!
The red-hot Cavs head to Philly to play the Nets on Wednesday.
Let’s Go Cavs!
Pregame Destination
If you are heading down to the RO-MO-FI-HO this year, stop into the Whistle. Featuring a wall of self-serve brews and fresh pizza made from the absolute best ingredients, The Whistle is the perfect destination before or after the Cavs game.

A Legend Retires
Cedar Point has announced that two rides are being closed to make room for future development. Professor Delbert’s Frontier Fling and Snake River Falls.
Snake River Falls has been soaking riders and those in line with extremely clean and refreshing water since 1993.
Trips to Cedar Point hold a special place in our hearts, so I hope something iconic takes its place.
I am a sucker for vintage and found someone is selling this original Pepsi Can with a Snake River Falls promo on the back. An absolute steal for $2.99.
