☕ Tremont is Getting Taken Over

Plus: Community theatre, trivia follow-up & spooky weekend plans

Good morning, Buzz Nation! Halloween is today, and it happens to be one of Jodie's and my favorite holidays. I love the chance to dress up and get into character, and Jodie loves my terrible attempts to make her laugh with increasingly ridiculous costume choices.

This year we're going as members of the TV show Reno 911 — think discount cops with questionable judgment and even more questionable uniforms.

Speaking of getting into character, the Westside has been putting on quite a show lately. We've got Cleveland's first Amazon One location opening up, Hangry's taking over Tremont, and enough spooky events to keep you busy until Thanksgiving.

If you've got your costume ready to go, send us a photo or let us know where you’re celebrating — we want to see how creative our Buzz community is. Bonus points if it's as questionable as our Reno 911 getup.

Happy Halloween!

Feel-Good Saturday, Nov 8 📍 Westlake

If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll “get around to that check-up soon,” consider this your gentle nudge from the universe (and your neighbors at Westlake Porter Public Library).

Their Annual Health Fair is happening Saturday, November 8, from 1–4 p.m., and it’s no cost. Think of it as a one-stop shop for all things wellness — whether you want to sneak in a blood pressure check, stretch it out in a yoga class, or just grab some inspiration to feel your best heading into winter.

Here’s the lineup:

  • Drop-in health screenings for vision, hearing, blood pressure, and more — no appointment, no stress, just stroll in.

  • Five hourly sessions with local experts covering fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, and overall wellness (these do need advance registration).

  • Prize drawings — because yes, taking care of yourself should come with perks.

As Heather Feenaughty, the library’s PR & Marketing Manager, puts it: “Patrons can just walk in and get a screening or register and attend a session.”

So grab your comfiest fall sweater, bring a friend, and carve out a few hours to focus on you.

👉 Walk-ins welcome for screenings from 1–4 p.m.
👉 To register or see the full session list

The Best Side Gets the First Amazon Healthcare Location 📍Avon

Big news for anyone who’s ever tried to book a doctor’s appointment and heard, “We can see you in three weeks.”

Amazon One Medical is officially opening its first Cleveland-area location right here on the Westside, inside French Creek Square in Avon — and it’s in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic. (Because, of course, the Best Side gets it first.)

The new health center aims to make care simpler and more accessible, offering same-day appointments, on-site labs, and help with everything from quick checkups to long-term health management.

You don’t need a membership to be seen, but there’s also an option for 24/7 virtual visits.

A second One Medical will open in Shaker Heights this January, giving Clevelanders on both sides of town easier access to care that actually fits into their lives.

So if you’ve been putting off that wellness visit, this might be your sign to finally book it.

Restaurant News

Paper Tiger Set to Open Next Spring 📍 Tremont

The new home of Paper Tiger [WKYC]

It’s official: Hangry Brands is collecting Tremont restaurants like they’re Taylor Swift friendship bracelets. First came STEAK, then they snapped up Edison’s, Danny’s on Professor, and now they’re opening another spot in the old Crust Pizza space. At this rate, we’ll just start calling Professor Ave “Hangry Row.”

Their newest concept, Paper Tiger, opens spring 2026 at 2258 Professor Avenue — a playful twist on the American-Chinese takeout classics we all grew up on, reimagined with modern flair and cocktails worth bragging about.

CEO Jason Beudert says it best: “Most Americans grew up on takeout Chinese food. We want to make it fun, make it cool, and make it delicious.”

Expect glowing dragon decor, a zodiac-themed cocktail menu (twelve drinks for twelve animals), and free shrimp chips at every table — a nod to STEAK’s popcorn.

The menu promises the best kind of chaos: Kung Pao pork, egg roll queso dip, pepperoni rangoons, bao tacos, and something called guacamame (yep, guac + edamame). Plus, there’s a take-out window for those “sweatpants and Netflix” nights.

If this is what a Tremont takeover looks like, we’ll happily hand over our chopsticks.

Bonefish Grill Says Goodbye 📍 Crocker Park

Well, this one stings a little. Bonefish Grill, the spot that gave us endless Bang Bang Shrimp, has quietly closed up shop at 1900 Crocker Road.

They’ve been part of the Crocker Park lineup since 2016, serving up seafood and martinis to anyone who needed a little liquid courage to continue fighting the holiday shopping crowds. But after nearly a decade, their lease ran out — and according to Stacie Schmidt, VP of Marketing for Stark Enterprises, that’s the end of the line for this location.

It’s always sad to lose a reliable dinner spot, but let’s be real, Crocker Park never stays quiet for long. Something new and buzzy will take that space before they light the giant Crocker Christmas tree.

Limnis Theatre (2438 Scranton Rd)

For one weekend only, a new play by local playwright (and longtime member of Buzz Nation) Samantha Cocco will take the stage at convergence-continuum’s Limnis Theatre (2438 Scranton Rd) — October 30 to November 1.

Here’s a snippet:

Maddie and Jason are building a life together, even as time runs short. When they uncover a long-forgotten attic, they find it’s not just memories that linger there — but the spirit of someone with an unfinished story of his own.

Directed by Jonathon Morgan and featuring a powerhouse local cast, this intimate new work explores love, loss, and what it means to finally let go.

Tickets are limited — so support Cleveland’s indie theatre scene.
