Today In Cleveland History

The most famous 35-ton office supply was installed today in 1991. Commissioned by the Amoco Company in 1982, the Free Stamp endured a 9-year journey before ending up at its first and current resting space.

Due to corporate mergers, the pop art piece sat in a dusty warehouse for 5 years.

The original intent was for the stamp to face down, with the “FREE” never seeing the light of day.

In conjunction with then-Mayor Voinivich, the designers settled on Willard Park sitting at an angle as if the stamp had been hurled from downtown. Fun fact: The stamp points toward the public square, where it was initially going to be placed.

Wolf & Co. is opening in Bay Village tomorrow and is vying to be your new favorite pizza place. The brainchild of partners Dan Deagan and Mandi Burman, Wolf & Co. serves nine different thin crust, deck oven style pizzas, fresh Caesar salads, and eclectic apps.

Wolf & Co. officially opens tomorrow at 4 PM. The great people of Bay Village are buzzing about this place. I have a feeling it will be worth a trip from anywhere on the west side.

Local Gobble

Go farm to table this Thanksgiving and support a local Westside family farm. You can’t do better than that.

Plum Creek Farm in Valley City will have 15 - 25 lbs turkeys ready for you to pick up on Tuesday, November 26th.

They are $4.95 / pound so reserve yours today! If you do get one, tell them the Buzz sent you. I bet they give you a puzzled look and say, “I have no idea what you are talking about.”

Cleveland is now near the top of the list of where people are relocating to.

According to an analysis by Bank of America, Cleveland is experiencing year-over-year gains in net migrations (More people moving in than out). Simply put, people are choosing to move to Cleveland.

It is great to see that many people have discovered that Cleveland is a truly great American city. Maybe it’s because wherever Clevelanders go, they wear shirts about how great Cleveland is.

Little Diggers in Fairview Park is a giant indoor sandbox with all the toys you can imagine.

The company started in Dublin, Ohio and they broke ground recently in Fairview Park for their second. They bill themselves as a clean environment where kids can use their imagination and enrich development.

When I saw the Cavs' box score from their first game against the Raptors and realized it was the same lineup as last year, the innate Cleveland pessimism bubbled to the surface.

Throughout the Cavs record-setting, season-starting 13-game win streak, that pessimism quickly turned into excitement.

After Wednesday night’s win over the shorthanded 76ers, we’re already 16% of the way to 82-0.

Birdietown Mini Golf

Coming soon to Lakewood, Birdietown Mini Golf is mixing indoor mini golf with the vibe of an upscale swanky cocktail bar. The latest update from owners Kim and Tim Frazee is that they will be opening sometime in December.

My family and friends know I am elite at “old man” games (Golf, darts, pool, etc.) I am very excited for this place to finally open.

The Westlake Bay Village Rotary Club is doing holiday decorating at St. Augustine Health Center. They are meeting at 9 AM on Saturday the 16th and will last 2 hours. Register Here
