🍻 Happy Hour Review

One thing about The Westside Buzz is that we love a good happy hour. Something about after-work drinks and a bite to eat really excites us.

But not all happy hours are created equal.

We ventured to Wolf & Co. in Bay Village on Friday evening at 5 PM and discovered an absolute deal of a ‘Howling Hour’. If the deals were any better, I would have felt bad paying the bill!

Let’s break it down…

  1.  The vibe was upbeat and fun. The seating was busy but not packed. We sat at a high-top table and we had a great view of the fluffy snow falling on the street.

  2. The drinks were a steal! $5 for a dirty martini and high-end cocktails that you would easily spend $15 for anywhere else. $6 for a wide range of vinos both red and white. $3 domestic bottles and cans plus $3 garage beer drafts rounds out the drink menu.

  3. The food was excellent and fully portioned. We started with the bone marrow, which was perfectly prepared and a great starter ($15, normally $24). Our pizzas were cooked to perfection and delicious ($15 normally $21). (Full Menu)

  4. The service was excellent. An underrated aspect of happy hour is the service. Ours at Wolf & Co. was A+. We were asked a few times if we wanted another round AND we were given a warning that happy hour was ending so we could take advantage of another round at ‘Howling Hour’ prices. That, my friends, is a nice touch. 👌

We have been to countless happy hours and I can honestly say that this might top the list.

🌉 Stadium Landbridge

Courtesy of the City of Cleveland

Cleveland just snagged a massive $70M federal grant to fund the North Coast Connector.

What exactly does this mean?

  • The funding jumpstarts construction planning for 2027, with phase one expected to be completed soon after.

  • A Landbridge will be constructed that connects Mall C and the lakefront by spanning the Shoreway

The entire project is budgeted to cost $284 million. At this point, $150 million of the funding has been secured through state and federal grants.

Mayor Bibb calls it a win for the city's future, proving that Cleveland's Shore-to-Core-to-Share vision isn’t just a slogan—it’s a transformative reality in the making. (Here is the North Coast Connector Master Plan)

🥾 Buckeye National Trail

One thing West Siders and Clevelanders as a whole should be proud of is our first-in-class park systems. On any given weekend you can find The Westside Buzz exploring our beautiful hike and bike trails that blanket the west side.

Our Ohio park system might be in line for even more cred!

The Buckeye Trail, which is seen above, spans from Lake Erie to the Ohio River and back, circling the Buckeye state in one 1,454-mile continuous loop.

The non-profit that manages the trail is aiming to designate it a National Scenic Trail, which would make it one of 12 trails in the nation to hold that title. The Appalachian and the Pacific Crest trail are two of the most well-known.

Starting this week, the National Park Service is holding feasibility studies all across the state, culminating in a virtual public meeting on January 23rd at 5:30 PM.
