Former Lakewood City Councilman Tristan Rader took office in the Ohio House of Representatives leaving his old post open. Angelina Steiner will be a familiar face in a new place, pending her confirmation on the 21st of January.

Here’s a bit about Angelina:

• Currently an Administrator at Northeast Ohio Medical College.

• Current co-chair of Lakewood’s Anti-Racism Task Force

• Current Treasurer of the Madison Court Community Coalition

🎭 Variety Theatre Seeks New Owner

Cleveland's iconic Variety Theatre is back in the spotlight—and this time, it's looking for a star developer to take the stage.

Hand up—I had never heard of this theatre before this story broke. After taking a look at the pictures of the inside, my apologies Variety Theatre. I wasn’t familiar with your game.

After a 10-year stint of turning around Mahall’s, Kelly Flamos acquired the 34,000-square-foot property in April of 2022 with grand plans to save the landmark theatre. She never got to flex her operational muscles as the project became mired in complex commercial real estate challenges.

With $4.7 million in tax credits and grants already locked in, plus 75% of construction drawings done, the heavy lifting has started—it just needs someone to hit "go."

🚰 Oberlin Startup Tackles Forever Chemicals

This Oberlin Startup lies at the intersection of two of my favorite things. Innovative businesses on the west side and cutting down on plastic usage and potential harmful consequences.

CoreWater Technologies is a family outfit that created a technology that can remove forever chemicals (PFAS) from our drinking water. The company has raised just under $3 million in private investments to take the product to market.

Where is CoreWater at right now?

They are in discussions with several partners who want to try out their patented Core+ technology. Their goal is to prove the concept and license the idea to large companies.

This is exciting news for Westsiders who are concerned about recent studies that show PFAS in our Great Lake Erie, which is our greatest asset. (Full Story Here)
