👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 161% increase for child care | Avon Lake

After voters rejected school funding measures in November 2024, Avon Lake City Schools has implemented several changes that significantly affect parents:

The most dramatic change is a massive increase in all-day kindergarten tuition - from $2,400 to $6,280 annually. Parents now face a $600 down payment and then ten monthly payments of $568.

Avon Lake parents are sounding off and having to make difficult decisions on where to send their kids.

The district is putting new funding measures on the May 2025 ballot that would cost taxpayers about $165 per $100,000 of home value, which is significantly less than the previous proposal. Parents remain optimistic that a levy can pass but are preparing for the worst.
