☕Get Lit In Lakewood+The 10 Best Things To Do This Weekend
Lakewood’s favorite holiday tradition, Avon Football wins it's first state title, and tons of events to buzz on this weekend
Good Morning Westsiders! Here on The Westside Buzz, we believe a few absolutes exist.
The Westside of Cleveland is the best place to live in the world.
There is no better start to the day than a piping-hot cup of coffee.
And let’s face it, the tire air machines at GetGo? They never work. (Why even try?)
There is A LOT going on this weekend so let’s get to it!

FEATURED EVENT
The Brightest Night of the Year: Let’s Glow!
Lakewood’s favorite holiday tradition is back and brighter than ever! On Saturday, December 7, from 4 to 8 p.m., Detroit Avenue transforms into a winter wonderland for the 18th Annual Light Up Lakewood—a free, family-friendly extravaganza packed with holiday magic.
Here’s the deal: It’s not just a celebration; it’s the celebration. Picture this: a sparkling holiday parade, a tree-lighting ceremony, winter fireworks, a festive beer garden (shoutout to Immigrant Son Brewery), food trucks, live music, a holiday market, and even a train ride for the kids. Oh, and Santa? Yeah, the big guy will be there.
Pro tip: Go early and meet some friends at Merry Arts then soak up the vibes of one of Northeast Ohio’s biggest holiday parties. Fireworks at 7 p.m. over Kauffman Park are the cherry on top. Bring your holiday spirit (and maybe a coat). 🎆🍻
GIVING BACK
Students Helping Senior Citizens
H20 (Help to Others) volunteers and St. Eds students got together to rake leaves for senior citizens. Coordinated by the Lakewood Division of Aging, over 30 volunteers raked the yards of 26 senior residents.
The result of their hard work put a smile on the faces of the kids and seniors alike. You love to see it!

From Vaults to Visionaries: Lakewood’s Old Bank Gets a Modern Makeover
COhatch Lakewood slated to open late 2025 📍 14826 Detroit Ave, Lakewood
Lakewood’s all about community. COhatch, the coworking company from Columbus, is turning the century-old bank building into the west side’s most inspiring hangout for work and community vibes.
They’ll have 36 private offices, wellness rooms, and premium meeting spaces tucked inside a building where people once stashed their cash. It’s like the past and the future shook hands and decided to make something awesome together.
This isn’t just for office workers—it’s for dreamers, hustlers, and anyone who needs a break from their “WFH office” (read: kitchen table).
With room for 81 members, COhatch is injecting new life (and Wi-Fi) into Lakewood’s downtown. (Get more info)

Avon Captures First State Title
Avon defeats Anderson 20-13 | Credit @NEOZoneHS
Congratulations are in order for the Avon Eagles. After more close calls than the Buffalo Bills franchise, the Eagles have finally won their first Division II State Football title.
The Eagles soared past Anderson 20-13 in a dramatic, snowy showdown at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium to snag their first-ever state championship—and the first team title in any sport for the school.
A 44-yard Nolan Good touchdown pass, a clutch blocked extra point, and a goal-line stand with 10 minutes left sealed the deal for Avon. Anderson’s final gasp—a 19-play march down the field—ended with Aiden Atkins swatting away a last-second pass in the end zone.
Avon’s 16-0 season is officially legendary, and the west side of Cleveland has another reason to celebrate. Great job Eagles!
